(Video) Klopp’s update on Coutinho, Lovren & Toure injuries is more bad than good

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure will all miss Friday’s FA Cup third-round tie against Exeter City.

The boss gave an update on the injury casualties of Tuesday’s 1-0 Capital One Cup first-leg win over Stoke City at his press conference today, and it was more bad than good.

While Toure’s cramp should only rule him out of the trip to Exeter, Lovren will miss the Premier League games against Arsenal and Manchester United, and Coutinho a few weeks more.

It is expected that the Brazilian will not play again in January – heaping the pressure on Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana to step up and take on his creative responsibilities.

The fact that the length of anticipated layoffs is in that order is indicative of the rotten luck that we have had with injuries this season. We now have as many as 10 players out.

Coutinho has been a bit dodgy and selfish since coming back from his last injury, but he was our best chance of us rediscovering our form by knocking off Arsenal or United.

Lovren will be a massive miss as well considering that the unavailability of Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez had already left us horribly short at centre-back.

Toure should be back for our next Premier League match and will probably be partnered by Lucas – the defensive pairing which ended our victory at the Britannia Stadium.

But who will play in front of Adam Bogdan against Exeter? Klopp might want to get a video of today’s legends match in Australia to see how Jamie Carragher is shaping up.
