Kolo Toure backs himself for summer Real Madrid switch!

Haha! Classic Kolo…

Our ageing Ivorian centre-back, who performed excellently against Stoke City in the League Cup semi-final last Tuesday, has come out in praise of his own recent form – suggesting he could sign for Spanish behemoths Real Madrid upon the expiration of his contract.

“If I can play like that then maybe I will go to Real Madrid!” he joked earlier this week, reported in the Daily Mail.

“I don’t know what I’ll do at the end of this season, but I’d like to stay in the Premier League.

“My kids are here and it is difficult to move. I am loving every day but God knows where I will be in a year’s time.”

Toure’s contract expires in June, and there’s been no discussions yet regarding a possible extension.

He’s 34-years-old and is way past his excellent peak, but with our current injury crisis, he’s got an important role to play – this January especially.

Toure should start at home to Arsenal and Manchester United with Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren all injured – although he’ll need to overcome the severe cramp he picked up towards the end of the Stoke City win.
