Our rapidly improving Brazilian hero Roberto Firmino was arguably the best player on the park in our 3-3 draw with Arsenal at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old scored our first two goals – with the first coming after Petr Cech could only parry Emre Can’s drive into his path and the second being a beautiful 25-yard effort that was curled into the top corner. It was a moment of sheer individual genius.

It’s really nice to see Firmino finally hitting his stride. We knew he had bags of talent from his time in the Bundesliga, but he looked short of form and confidence at the start of the season.
Since Klopp arrived he’s being given a chance to prove himself and has repaid that faith by scoring three goals and turning in a series of strong performances in a position that he’s not fully accustomed to.
Needless to say, Reds fans on Twitter were fawning over his performance tonight. Here’s the best of their reaction:
@MissAndreeva_ firmino is just taking time to settle. Shows touches of genius from time to time. 👌

In 4 games as false 9 for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino managed 3 goals and 3 assists. That’s 6 [involvements] in 4. pic.twitter.com/lXRk2pNscY

It’s easy to forget that in his last 2 Bundesliga seasons, only Lewa was involved in more goals than Firmino. EPL adaptation period needed.

A real 9 can get easily isolated. The quality of Firmino is that he can drop deep. When he doesn’t score, he contributes as midfielder.

My that second goal from firmino was fab #lfc but our defense is crap and at set pieces eg corners

@jacklusby_ had to be Firmino! That second goal was a thing of beauty, and he was everywhere
