Henderson says his injury troubles are behind him ahead of United showdown

Posted by

Our skipper Jordan Henderson has claimed his injury issues are behind him after a stop-start season so far.

The 25-year-old missed three months between August and November, before missing a further three matches over the festive period.

The problem stemmed from a thickening of the plantar fascia – a band of tissue running underneath the sole of the foot. Although he was originally also suffering from a broken foot, it was the tissue injury that caused the most concern.

It was the same injury that kept him out over Christmas.

He had been using a combination of tape, specialist footwear, and injections to treat the problem – but now the tissue has ruptured, relieving the pressure and solving the problem naturally.

“It was good to get back, play 90 minutes and get through it okay,” Jordan told the Echo.

“Hopefully I can just keep playing and get as many games as I can because I’ve missed too many this season.”

“It’s getting better. I felt okay against Arsenal. Hopefully with the run of games I can keep going and keep improving.”

This is great news for the Reds – his dynamism is the centre of the park is badly missed when he isn’t playing, and he is also one of the few true leaders that we have on our side.
