Liverpool’s Brazilian battler Lucas said Jurgen Klopp simply told his side ‘to find a way to win’ at half-time during Saturday lunchtime’s wonderful victory versus Norwich City.
After 45 minutes Liverpool were 2-1 down, despite having taken the lead through Roberto Firmino. Norwich were by far the better side during a miserable first-half, but despite conceding two more goals in the second, our intensity, pressing and quality improved tenfold – even if our defending didn’t!

“Of course, we are happy to get the result,” said Lucas, reported in the Echo. “Especially the way it was at half-time.
“The manager just said we had to find a way to win. We did it. Of course, it’s not the best way to win a game but maybe it was what we needed.
“We need to improve a lot but the passion, determination and belief is there. Hopefully, we’ll improve in things we’re not doing so well now and then move on.
“If we can score five goals and defend set-pieces especially a little bit better, we would be winning games more comfortably. It’s better to win the game but we know we have to improve.
“But it will give us a lot of belief. On Tuesday we have a very big game, a semi-final and a chance to go to Wembley. We will do everything we can to get there.
“It’s one of the biggest games of the season until now and a good chance for us to go to Wembley. We don’t need any more motivation.”
Lucas endured and then enjoyed two differing halves at Carrow Road. In the first, he was second to the ball and bullied by Norwich’s stronger, more energised midfielders – but in the second he offered a resilient, tenacious presence himself.
His passion for the club and loyalty is a trait we rate highly, and we’d love him to be a a crucial Liverpool squad player for many more seasons – even if he’s perhaps not a long-term starter under Klopp.
Lucas has made 18 Premier League appearances this term, starting 16 of them – picking up seven yellow cards in the process.
It’s unsure whether Lucas will start against Stoke City in the League Cup, with Joe Allen waiting in the wings to rotate with our longest-serving player.
