Klopp: “Liverpool players believe that anything is possible”

Our poor players’ confidence has taking a hammering over the last 18 months.

From being within touching distance of a first Premier League title in the summer of 2014, to losing two semi-finals and being also rans in the top four battle last season, and then a series of wildly inconsistent performances under a new boss this term – there was a sense that most of our team didn’t know if they’re really good or really bad.

Klopp has moved to quell these concerns in his Stoke City press conference, saying that they now think anything is possible.

“We have a ‘striking back’ mentality now”, he said (via Echo).

“We spoke from the first minute about this, after the defeat to Crystal Palace when fans were leaving the stadium early, about how eight minutes is enough time for six goals.”

“For me it is really easy because I had so many big defeats in my life that if I didn’t strike back I would not be here. To accept a situation is the biggest mistake you can make in sport.”

“The boys know how it works because they have played football for 15 years, some of them longer. For this you need the results, you need the experience together that it works and then you start believing in it.”

Flanno set to start in semi final

After our crazy late win against Norwich at the weekend, as well as late goals against Arsenal and West Brom in recent weeks, there is certainly no doubt that Klopp has re-instilled some belief.

A semi-final win against Stoke would be the icing on the cake.

Long may it continue.
