Sturridge back in full training at Melwood

Posted by

Our mythical striker Daniel Sturridge is back in full training at Melwood, according the the Echo.

Question marks were starting to be raised over whether the 26-year-old actually existed, but the photos online prove that he is very much alive and well.

He took part in a complete session along with all the other players who played no part in our 2-0 loss to Leicester on Tuesday night. The rest of the squad reportedly took part in a standard recovery session.

Sturridge hasn’t played for the first team since 6th December, and has only made three league starts all season (via WhoScored).

Klopp will presumably be desperate to get the player back on the pitch, especially with an insane February schedule looming large:

Feb 2nd – League: Leicester City 2 – 0 Liverpool
Feb 6th – League: Liverpool vs Sunderland
Feb 9th – FA Cup 4th Round Replay: West Ham United vs Liverpool
Feb 14th – League: Aston Villa vs Liverpool
Feb 18th – Europa League Last 32, 1st Leg: Augsburg vs Liverpool
Feb 21st – FA Cup 5th Round: TBC
Feb 25th – Europa League Last 32, 2nd Leg: Liverpool vs Augsburg
Feb 28th – League Cup Final: Liverpool vs Manchester City

Looking at that, how badly do we need Sturridge back? Especially with our hopes of a Champions League place appearing to rest on the Europa League.

According to the Echo, there will be a further boost on Thursday as Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi also resume full training.
