(Video) Rodgers invited Klopp into his house as soon as German got Liverpool job

We’re still feeling pretty awful after last night’s miserable defeat to Leicester, but this story has slightly cheered us up.

Brendan Rodgers, appearing on beinSPORTS alongside Keys and Gray, discussed how he spoke to Jurgen Klopp when finding out the German was replacing him in the Anfield hot-seat.

Not only did he welcome Klopp into the country, but he invited him into his home and they discussed the Liverpool job at length.

“I remember when Klopp first got the job and we sat down and we spoke. We sat and had a chat at my house. He’s a good guy. Whatever help he needed going into the job, I was there for that,” he said.

Rodgers claimed they spoke about how strikers do not get time in England, and cited Robert Lewandowski’s development in Germany as an example of how the Premier League casts judgement too quickly – such as with Christian Benteke at Liverpool.

“We talk about patience. An example is Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich and he wouldn’t have got the patience in the Premier League that he did in the Bundesliga and now look at him,” he continued.

“Christian over time will show he’s a top class player.”

Whether you stand on our former boss, this is a seriously classy touch.

Can you imagine being sacked from a job you loved and then having the humility to make your replacement’s arrival as seamless as possible?

Top notch, in our opinion.
