Firmino enjoying life as Liverpool’s centre-forward

Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has told the club’s official site that he is loving life as our main striker.

With Belgian forward Christian Benteke woefully out of form and short of confidence, Firmino has been Klopp’s first choice striker in recent weeks.

He’s already bagged five goals and four assists in his new role, and insists he’s really enjoying himself.

“I have played there for the national team before as a striker and I’ve been getting used to the position,” he said.

“I enjoy playing as a forward but I am there to help the team and am happy as long as I am playing. It is another challenge, I am playing in this position and I am well prepared for it.”

The striker also said he is now starting to feel settled in his Merseyside surroundings:

“When I arrived here I expected it to be much easier to settle, but the first and second month were somewhat difficult.”

“But I can say that I am getting used to everything now and things are improving. And I am feeling more comfortable in the environment.”

Firmino will presumably once again lead the line in this weekend’s home game against Sunderland with Daniel Sturridge not expected back until West Ham in midweek at the earliest.
