Jordan Henderson backs fans’ #WalkOutOn77 campaign on Twitter

Jordan Henderson has likely irritated club officials but will have warmed himself to fans by liking an article on Twitter which backs the planned walkout today versus Sunderland.

On 77 minutes during Liverpool’s match against the Black Cats this Saturday, many fans will leave Anfield in protest at the recent ticket hikes.

He’s since unliked the post, but Jay Mckenna, the chair of Spirit of Shankley, provided a screenshot which showed the Liverpool captain’s backing.

The excellent article via our friends at This Is Anfield provides answers to the sceptics who’ve questioned whether the walkout will do any good.

We urge you to check it out.

From 2016/17, the most expensive season ticket at Anfield will be over £1,000 and there’s a £77 ticket in the upgraded Main Stand. The club has claimed its schemes to get young people into the ground make up for this, and Ian Ayre yesterday urged supporters to ‘look at the facts’ (via BBC Sport).

But he’s missing the point entirely.

And thankfully it seems like Henderson agrees with us and the vast majority of fans that the club should not be increasing prices to earn an extra £2m per season – which in Football Club terms – is insignificant.
