Injury curse strikes again: Joe Allen ruled out for a month

Guess what – – Joe Allen’s injured. Guess what’s wrong with him – – yep, hamstring.

In the least surprising news of 2016 so far, the club have confirmed Joe Allen will face up to a month on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring against Sunderland last weekend.

It will come as a bitter blow to the Welsh international, who had been displaying some of his best form in a Liverpool shirt so far when the problem struck.

He will now miss the cup final against Man City later this month.

Jurgen Klopp said: “Unfortunately, Joe will be out for a while. He was in a good way and we tried to manage time after his last injury.

“He was in a perfect moment but then this. We’ll have to wait a bit for him.” (via Echo).

Lovren will also miss the game against Villa as a precautionary measure after he felt cramp in his recently-recovered hamstring against the Black Cats, while Brad Smith is ruled out with a slight muscle injury. Both are expected to be fit for the Augsberg game.

Elsewhere, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, and Divock Origi could all start, and Steven Caulker (back) and Cameron Brannagan (sickness) are also both available again.

Klopp joked about the Brannagan situation with reporters, saying: “Cameron was ill as kids are sometimes! He was one week ill. I think he lost two or three kilos. He’s back but we have to feed him!”
