Kevin Stewart faces lengthy spell on the sidelines

Our 2015/16 season can be summed up in one simple word – injuries.

At one stage in mid-January we had an astonishing 13 players in the treatment room, but in truth players have been dropping like flies since August.

The latest to fall victim is defensive midfielder Kevin Stewart (via Echo).

The 22-year-old has reportedly picked up an ankle injury in training, and could face a significant spell out.

“We lost Kevin Stewart in training,” Klopp said. “He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable.”

“It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament.

“He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good.”

It will come as a big blow to the youngster – he had forced his way into first team contention after a series of strong performances in the FA Cup, and came on as a second half sub in our 6-0 win over Villa at the weekend.

Luckily, Klopp confirmed Lucas is fit again, meaning the Brazilian is almost certain to start in our Europa League clash with Augsberg on Thursday.

“Lucas is back fit but not Adam. He has no chance for Thursday’s game,” said the boss.
