Marko Grujic will be used in a new position during second half of Red Star season

Marko Grujic will play as a no.10 behind the centre forward during the second half of Red Star Belgrade’s season.

Vlastimir Stevanovic, a Serbian Liverpool fan who watches Grujic firsthand and provided us with plenty of information on the midfielder when the transfer broke, tweeted the news yesterday.

The 19-year-old has played as a more orthodox central midfielder for the majority of the campaign, which has just emerged from its lengthy winter break. Red Star won at the weekend though in their first official match of 2016, with Grujic used in a more advanced position.

He bagged five goals during the first half of the season for the runaway leaders, but playing behind a striker he’ll hopefully add more before the summer – when he’ll join up with Liverpool.

Once he arrives at Liverpool though, we can only see Grujic returning to a central, box-to-box role. We’ve Coutinho and Roberto Firmino who can play the traditional no.10 position, although with the 4-3-3 Klopp’s used most often this term, we don’t play with one anyway.

It’s legs, creativity and class in central midfield we’ve lacked – something that in time – we hope Grujic can provide.
