Kolo Toure says he’ll “fight” to stay at Liverpool

Kolo Toure is determined to stay at Liverpool next season, according to the Echo.

The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a run in the team of late, but is out of contract at the end of the season and it is widely thought that he’ll be allowed to leave, especially given the recent news about the impending arrival of Joel Matip (cited from Echo).

“The future is not the most important thing for me. What’s important is what’s happening right now. I’m in the team at the moment and I am showing every game that I’m still here,” said Kolo.

“It doesn’t matter what other people say, I have this smile, I’m very happy and I always give 100% for this club. This club is amazing.

“If I keep performing that will force people to change their minds (about a new contract). Sometimes you can make people change their minds by performing well and that’s my challenge right now.

“I can show people by my games that I’m still a top player. That’s all I can do. I am a fighter and I will fight until the end.”

Let’s be honest here; Kolo clearly has a great personality, and is well on his way to cult status with the club – but is he really good enough to be given another 12 months?

Is he not the type of player who we should be releasing to allow Klopp to build his own identity and dynasty? After all, he’s only started 11 league games in the last two seasons combined.
