Luis Suarez opens up on Arsenal rejection and makes Jurgen Klopp claim

Luis Suarez bit an opponent, was banned for racially abusing Patrice Evra and actively tried to leave Liverpool on a number of occasions, but he’s still regarded as a hero on Merseyside 18 months after his departure.

He’ll be back on English shores tonight, facing Arsenal, the club he turned down while at Liverpool, for Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Uruguayan has bagged 41 times already this season, and is on course to achieving his most productive goalscoring season of his entire career.

Back in summer 2013, Arsenal tried to capture Suarez, but he rejected them and went on to fire us to within inches of Premier League glory.

“It’s inevitable that people will talk about them trying to sign me, with us facing them in Europe,” Suarez told the Daily Express.

“They are a big club, but it would have been very difficult to play for any team other than Liverpool in England.

“Barcelona was the right choice for me. Yes I have won the treble in my first season, but also my family are very happy in the city. Barcelona was the only choice for me, life is good.

“I will always watch Liverpool and look for their results, they will always be a very special club for me. I would love to see them back in the Champions League.

“They have a new coach who is one of the most experienced in Europe, so I am sure they can be back there soon. It is where that special club belongs.”

Right now, Suarez is arguably the best player in world football, having outscored his wondrous partners in Barcelona’s front-three: Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Together, they create probably the best frontline in the history of club football.

Regarding his quotes, it’s great to see Suarez is still a Liverpool fan, although it’d be much nicer to see him as a player again! Hopefully we will qualify for the Champions League next year, draw Barcelona at some point and can give Suarez the Anfield welcome he deserves.
