Klopp regrets Flanagan Europa mistake

Posted by

Jurgen Klopp has said he regrets leaving Jon Flanagan out of our Europa League squad.

The freshly-returned full-back was excluded in favour of Stephen Caulker when the amended list was submitted in January.

The boss also admitted we now have too many centre backs:

“Now we have too many centre-halves,” he said.

“The day before we put the squad list in we didn’t have any. Now we have too many and you think: ‘My God what have we done?'” (via Echo)

“That was the thing we had to do at that time. Now we have to get into the next round with the players we have available.”

Klopp stressed, however, than Flanno still needs to patient. When asked about his chances of playing Palace, he replied, “He hasn’t played two games in four days so I am not sure that we should [risk him]”.
