The Liverpool Echo recently conducted a poll in which fans voted on whether they’d like to ‘keep’ or ‘sell’ players in the first-team squad this summer, and these five players received the most positive votes.

Below, we’ve registered our opinion on the chosen five and their rankings.

You can check the seven least popular Reds, here.

Coutinho – 98.6% of fans want him to stay

EOTK thoughts: The only question is who the 1.4% are?! Coutinho is Liverpool’s talisman and the man we turn to when we need a moment of creativity or genius. Hopefully, he’ll continue his development and establish himself as one of the best playmakers in Europe. He’s not there yet, but he has the ability to become anything he wants to be and is still only 23.

Nathaniel Clyne – 96% of fans want him stay

EOTK thoughts: A very good summer signing, as the 96% vote proves. Clyne gives our defence something his team-mates do not: consistency. He rarely makes mistakes and puts in a 7/10 performance every week. The Englishman’s comfortable at right or left-back and will no doubt play a key role for years to come.

Roberto Firmino – 96% of fans want him to stay

EOTK thoughts: The Brazilian no.11 was branded a flop by many after the first few months of the season, in which he struggled for fitness and a regular spot in the team. But having found his feet, Firmino’s one of the first names on Klopp’s team-sheet. Seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League so far prove this. If he can reach double figures for both by the summer that’ll be some debut campaign.

Divock Origi – 95.1% of fans want him to stay

EOTK thoughts: Mighty interesting to see Origi and not Daniel Sturridge in this top 5. It’s testament to the talent the Belgian is beginning to show and his potential for vast improvement. Origi’s quick, strong and does have an eye for goal – as his hat-trick against Southampton earlier in the season proved.

Jon Flanagan – 94.4% of fans want him to stay

EOTK thoughts: This vote proves how crazy it is that the local lad has yet to be offered a new contract, with his deal running out this summer. Flanagan was tremendous against Manchester City last time out, proving that he’s got the ability as well as the character to cement a spot in our first-team. He embodies the spirit of the fans, and needs to tied down as soon as possible.
