Klopp could smash 80-year-old record against Man United on Thursday

Posted by

Our boss Jurgen Klopp could become the first Liverpool manager in 80 years to win on his first visit to Old Trafford.

George Kay was the last manager to do so, as he guided us to a 5-2 win all the way back in 1936.

Klopp, however, has downplayed the record’s importance.

“I really don’t care about records. It’s not important for me,” he said (via Echo).

“We just want to go through to the next round. I only think about the game.

“Maybe Man United will take maximum risk from the first second but Louis van Gaal is a very experienced manager. He will have a plan.

“A good start in the game is important. We will try to play similar or even more intensive to how we played at Anfield.”

We will take a 2-0 lead to Old Trafford after goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino last week. A single goal for us means United will need to score four to progress.
