Liverpool youngster could be set for emergency loan to Sheffield United

Despite the fact Jurgen Klopp only withdrew Ryan Kent from his Coventry loan spell in January, League One side Sheffield United believe they could persuade the German to lend them the teenage starlet until the end of the season.

The Sheffield Star claims that new Blades boss Nigel Adkins has earmarked a potential move for the teenage winger who can play on either flank or as a no.10.

Kent made his Liverpool debut against Exeter in the FA Cup, but despite doing well, hasn’t had the chance for more first-team minutes and has been stuck playing Under-21 football.

With Liverpool just left in the Premier and Europa League, there’ll unlikely be any options for Kent to feature, even from the bench – as fellow youngsters Jordon Ibe and Sheyi Ojo are currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

When Klopp arrived he stated that he didn’t want a plethora of youngsters out on loan, and instead wanted a large group all vying for opportunities at Melwood.

With this in mind it seems unlikely Klopp will send Kent out, having recalled him from the Ricoh when he was on fire under Tony Mowbray.

Still, with Liverpool Under-21s out of the cup, it makes sense for us to provide Kent with the experience of a proper domestic run-in, with Sheffield United fighting for Play-Off places.

Klopp will have the final say, of course.
