Klopp gives update on Alberto Moreno injury

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about Alberto Moreno’s newest injury.

The Spanish left back limped out of training at Old Trafford on Wednesday afternoon holding his hamstring, and we all feared the worst.

Hamstrings and Liverpool have not mixed well in the last 6 months, but Klopp has now moved to reassure fans that the news is not as bad as we might have feared.

“I don’t know [how long he will be out for] yet because we have to wait as long as possible to do the next scan,” he said.

“The first scan we did after training showed nothing but Alberto is a player who really ignores pain. He felt it when he tested it so we couldn’t take the risk.

“He will have another scan and then it will be much clearer if there is something or not. If there is nothing then maybe we’ll try it for Sunday but I don’t know yet.” (via Echo).

The news that he might be fit for the Southampton game is a major boost – it’s a vital game if we want to keep our top four hopes alive, and he remains (just about) our first choice left back.

The only other natural left back in the squad is Brad Smith, though the right-footed Jon Flanagan is also more than capable of playing there.

Oh – we’ve also got Jose Enrique, but it’s best not to mention him!

Here’s to a full and speedy recovery.
