Empire of the Kop rounds up five of the biggest Liverpool-related transfer stories doing the rounds this weekend, as the Reds are linked with one of the world’s best-rated young midfielders…

Youri Tielemans

The Mirror reports that Liverpool are among the clubs to have watched 18-year-old Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has remarkably already played 100 times for the Belgian side.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion are also interested in Tielemans, so we could be in for another tedious transfer tussle with Spurs come the summer window.

FC Koln double swoop

Jurgen Klopp could return to the Bundesliga market to raid FC Koln at the end of the season, with goalkeeper Timo Horn and defender Jonas Hector both targets, The Mirror cites Bild as reporting.

Horn might displace Simon Mignolet as Liverpool’s number-one goalkeeper while Hector would provide decent competition for Alberto Moreno at left-back. Both players would surely improve the squad.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou

French publication L’Equipe claim that we are set to battle with Manchester United for 21-year-old Marseille winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, who is also being monitored by West Ham United.

Nkoudou has scored five goals in his 24 appearances this season after joining Marseille from Nantes. Liverpool could certainly do with signing a winger, but perhaps one who has more pedigree.

Danny Ings

Burnley chief executive Dave Baldwin expects Liverpool to have to pay the biggest ever fee decided by a transfer tribunal for striker Danny Ings, and has revealed why the process has taken so long.

“The reason it is different to the ordinary is this tribunal claim will be the biggest in history,” Baldwin told BBC Sport. “The key to this was that we bring the claim against Liverpool, therefore we had to prepare an extremely robust case.

“You’re talking a documentation bundle of probably in excess of 400 or 500 pages with witness statements, evidence, analytics about player performance, the statement as to why we make a judgement as to what we believe the player is worth, compared to what Liverpool want to offer.

“You get your ducks in a row and do the job right.”

Jordan Henderson

The Brentford Gazette understands that West Ham are lining up a £25m offer for Jordan Henderson as they aim to make a splash upon moving to the Olympic Stadium, according to the Daily Star.

The Hammers shouldn’t waste their time. Klopp is highly unlikely to sanction the sale of his captain, and the England midfielder would surely not even consider what would be a massive backwards step.
