Borussia Dortmund will battle Liverpool for Mario Gotze in huge transfer twist

Well this is a turn up for the books…

According to German publication Bild, Borussia Dortmund want to rival Liverpool for Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze this summer.

The 23-year-old World Cup winning playmaker used to play for Borussia Dortmund under Liverpool’s current manager Jurgen Klopp – before leaving for Bayern in summer 2013.

Now, both Klopp and his old team want to reunite with Gotze, who’s not flourished under Pep Guardiola this term.

Carlo Ancelotti is taking charge of Bayern in the summer, and both Liverpool and Dortmund’s chances of signing Gotze rely on the legendary Italian giving us the all clear.

The Bild report reiterated Klopp’s personal interest for Gotze, who at 20/21, was looking like the kind of player who could develop into a future Ballon d’Or winner.

His talent is unquestionable, and if he were an option, we should do everything we could to bring him in.

Interestingly, we’re not sure he’d actually get in Thomas Tuchel’s Dortmund team anyway. Tuchel starts Marco Reus and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in attacking midfield and while the former is undroppable, the Armenian has scored and assisted over 20 goals apiece already this season.
