Liverpool scout Brazilian flyer during Champions League Last 16

Liverpool sent scouts to Chelsea’s Champions League fixture with PSG on March 9 to watch exciting attacker Lucas Moura, confirms French outlet Mercato365.

The 23-year-old shone in PSG’s 2-1 win before departing for Pastore, and Reds staff would have been impressed with what they saw.

Moura’s traits and characteristics are obvious. He’s rapid, very skilful and perfect for a counter-attacking side. He lacks in defensive nous but always provides an outlet on either flank, from where he’ll immediately look to drive forward directly. His dribbling is a strength but although his end product has improved his footballing brain is sometimes questioned. In many ways, he’s a mature Jordon Ibe.

We’d take Moura at Anfield in a heartbeat, but would be surprised if PSG were willing to sell with Zlatan Ibrahimovic already departing at the end of the season.

Interestingly though, the Mercato365 report claims that PSG are in advanced negotiations for Hatem Ben Arfa – who’s out of contract in the summer – and Lyon’s Nabil Fekir – already.

Both play in attacking midfield positions, and although we rate Moura much higher than the pair, it seems as if the Brazilian would have added competition for first-team places if he were to stay. Moura’s already had to battle with the likes of Angel Di Maria, Pastore and Edinson Cavani for starting spots, but there could be more in his way if he were stay in France.

Jurgen Klopp lacks rapid wingers in his squad, and with Lazar Markovic returning from loan and someone like Moura arriving, we’d be more set up to play with width next term.
