Liverpool in hunt for 12 goal French wonderkid, out of contract in the summer

Liverpool and Juventus are battling to convince Fulham’s talented young striker Moussa Dembele to sign, not to be confused with Tottenham’s midfielder of the same name, reports French publication L’Equipe.

The 19-year-old has bagged 12 Championship goals this term, 14 in all competitions, but has been unable to agree an extension with the London club.

Tottenham almost secured him in January but couldn’t get a deal over the line, while Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in the past.

Dembele is quick and and has an eye for goal, although at this point he’s still very raw. In fact, comparisons could be made with Divock Origi – the young Belgian currently improving at such a steady rate with Liverpool.

Like with Danny Ings last summer, Liverpool would have to pay a compensation fee to Fulham if Dembele agreed to sign, although it’s unclear if the forward would prefer a move abroad.

We expect Christian Benteke to leave in the summer following his comments about Jurgen Klopp (via ESPN), so a young striker who can learn his trade and be happy with a place on the bench originally could be a sensible replacement.
