(Video) Liverpool’s left-back vows to improve, promises fans ‘they’ll see more’

Alberto Moreno has spoken to Liverpool’s official website about his trip to Tenerife and his recent hamstring injury.

Thankfully, the 23-year-old defender is healthy, and trained normally on the Spanish island with Jurgen Klopp bringing the Liverpool players not on international duty on a warm weather break.

They’re back at Melwood now though, and Moreno is contention for a start against Tottenham at the weekend.

Many supporters though have criticised his performances in 2016, with the Spaniard making poor defensive decisions and finding himself consistently out of position. As a result, many have called for Jon Flanagan to earn a more regular role in the side, with Nathaniel Clyne covering at left-back.

Moreno though knows he has to improve, and has told Liverpool fans he’s only 23 and will get better.

“I am 23-years-old now and I have a lot to learn and a lot to improve and a lot to grow as a player,” he began.

“I think that of course I have three years left at the club and the fans will see a lot more of Alberto Moreno.”

Going forward, Moreno’s created more chances than any defender in the Premier League this term, and there’s never been a question of his ability to bomb up the flank and involve himself in attack. His final product is lacking, but his dynamism is superb. It’s Moreno’s mistakes at the back which have irritated fans, and time will tell whether he’ll be able to iron these creases out of his game as he matures.

Jonas Hector could arrive in the summer (says the Mirror), so Jurgen Klopp has perhaps already made up his mind.
