Lovren claims our defenders couldn’t hear each other in Dortmund

Dejan Lovren has said our defenders struggled to hear each other at the Westfalenstadion. He also claimed it was our squad’s defensive discipline which underpinned our fantastic performance on Thursday night, and believes that our fans will make life very difficult for the visitors in the return leg.

It was another fine performance from the former Southampton man – his emergence for fall-guy to defensive rock under Klopp has been nothing short of astounding. It was Sakho’s all action performance which drew most attention, but the Croat was equally as good.

“We knew it would be a tough game, they were keeping the ball really well,” he said (via official site)

“We had a couple of chances in the first half maybe to kill them but in the end I would say it was a good result for us with an away goal.

“We need to do even better at Anfield, definitely, but I’m satisfied. It was a great job from everyone, we had great discipline in defence – all 11 players.

“It was quite noisy, we couldn’t hear each other, but it was a great defensive job.”

“With our supporters we have a man more on the pitch,” he continued.

“It will be a great game again, it was great tonight, but we need to play better and keep the ball more than tonight. I’m confident in our team.”
