We think it’s fair to say that we’ve been pretty lucky with who we’ve played in the knockout rounds of this season’s Europa League.

Man Utd and their disgusting chants excepted, we’ve faced Augsburg and Dortmund. Augsburg won over Reds fans around the world with their attitude and hospitality, and now Dortmund are well on the way to joining their German compatriots as Liverpool fans’ flavour of the month.

That’s because it was announced today that will pay tribute to the victims of Hillsborough prior to Thursday night’s second leg at Anfield. The tribute will be made in the form of a giant mosaic that will be unveiled before kick-off (via Echo).

It is reported that the mosaic will read “96” in black and yellow – a gesture that is certain to receive a raptuous reception from The Kop.

The game will be played on the 27th anniversary of the 1989 tragedy, and the 3,000-strong away support holding up the message will remind viewers all over the planet about the injustices of that sad day.

Thanks Dortmund, and may the best team win.
