Carragher calls up talkSPORT to destroy ‘sh*te’ talking Jason Cundy

Jamie Carragher cares about Liverpool as much now as anytime during his 16 year career first-team career, and couldn’t help but phone up talkSPORT to deride idiot presenter Jason Cundy last night.

And he was right to do so.

Instead of praising the Liverpool comeback, saluting the best atmosphere seen at a football stadium this season, or discussing Jurgen Klopp’s management and the manner in which he’s inspired his squad – Chelsea fan Cundy spoke about how bad Liverpool were in the first-half, how they’ve struggled in the Premier League and have only won the Champions League once in 35 years.

How bitter can you get? Last night was a mesmeric night for football, yet Cundy spoke about it like a seven-year-old in the playground.

First, Carragher sent out this tweet, before calling up talkSPORT to rip into Cundy.

You can listen to the entire ten minute conversation via the link at the top, but here’s some of what Carragher said:

“You’ve got to have respect for Liverpool,” he began.

“Very few clubs can have nights like that, and as many as we’ve had. I was lucky enough to watch it tonight, and I played in a few as well. Even if you don’t like Liverpool, you have to accept that. Take it on the chin for the night. Start giving Liverpool stick at the weekend.”

When accused of living in the past, Carragher was quick to remind Cundy that, “Chelsea haven’t got any history, have they?”

Before asking, “Are you a Chelsea fan or a Chelsea player, I can’t work it out…”

“Jason, tonight is not the night to talk about the Premier League.”

There’s a few on talkSPORT who are robbing a living, and Cundy’s one of them. Hearing Adrian Durham and Darren Gough talk about football is especially difficult, but last night Cundy was clearly on the wind-up.

Perhaps this is his job, but it’s biased, unprofessional reporting. How can he watch an English side comeback from 3-1 down to win 4-3 against one of the best sides in Europe and start talking about inconsistent Premier League form?

Crazy.
