Reason no Liverpool players touch This Is Anfield sign brilliantly explained

Jurgen Klopp has reinvigorated Liverpool’s squad and fanbase since his arrival in October last year.

Last night’s 4-3 comeback win against Borussia Dortmund was the culmination of months of hard work on the training ground to get his side to believe in themselves. Before the Anfield clash, he urged the crowd to show him the best Anfield yet, and 45,000 Scousers duly delivered, creating the best atmosphere since the the 2013/14 Premier League tie versus Manchester City.

It’s small details which makes Klopp so brilliant, and yesterday he revealed one of his stranger, but more ingenious tactics.

Since he took over, no Liverpool player touches the This Is Anfield sign on their way to the pitch, and the manager has finally explained why.

“I’ve told my players not to touch the This Is Anfield sign until they win something. It’s a sign of respect,” Klopp said, reported by the Times’ Tony Barrett.

Klopp gets it, doesn’t he?

Liverpool are through to the semis, but regardless of what happens during the rest of the competition, the ‘Borussia Dortmund’ night will go down in Anfield folklore.

Klopp promised to turn us from doubters into believers. He’s done just that.

We don’t think it’ll be long before the squad is touching the famous sign on a weekly basis.
