Mario Gotze transfer twist: BVB will play role despite fans’ ‘p*ss off’ jibe

Fresh news on the Mario Gotze transfer saga has been sparse in recent weeks, following the Guardian’s report roughly one month ago which claimed Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp were very confident of landing the German World Cup winner at the end of the season.

But now the story has reared its head once more, with BILD claiming that Borussia Dortmund will fight us tooth and nail for the 23-year-old’s services.

This is despite the fact Dortmund fans held up a large sign after rumours initially broke which read ‘P*ss off Gotze’, because of the acrimonious way he left the club for Bayern Munich back in 2013.

Bild reckon by selling Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City, soon to be managed by Pep Guardiola, Dortmund will have room for Gotze’s return and will risk the wrath of the fans to make it happen.

This particular German publication often spout disingenuous transfer rumours, so we hope they’re wrong and we won’t have to compete with Gotze’s former club for his services.

We’ve just finished one epic battle with Dortmund in the Europa League, and we’re not sure we’re ready for a summer tug-of-war in the transfer market just yet!

Gotze thrived at BVB under our manager, and it’s this relationship which gives us hope of completing the world-class signing.
