Daniel Sturridge is outrageously claiming Coutinho’s goal last night…

Come on, Sturridge – wind your neck in!

Last night’s brilliant 4-0 Everton pumping was only tarnished by Divock Origi’s injury, but now there’s a minor disagreement brewing over who bagged the final effort.

Joe Allen fed Coutinho on the edge of the area, and the Brazilian curled in a beauty, but as the rest of the team ran to celebrate with the no.10 – Sturridge ran the other way – pointing at himself and smiling.

It seemed harmless at the time, but Sturridge has bullishly claimed the goal since, the Echo reports.

“It’s goals, isn’t it?” Sturridge answered when asked about his solo effort after the game.

“You know as well, I don’t even know why you’re asking me!

“But obviously it was a great ball from Lucas for the first one and obviously Phil’s shot and it’s hit me, so it’s my goal.

“Of course it’s mine, no doubt.”

There’s simply no way that goal is Sturridge’s. The ball may have brushed his shorts, but didn’t deviate off his body. How can you claim that from a team-mate?!

This slow-mo clip proves it:

We guess it’s a striker’s instinct to want as many goals as possible, and it’s this selfish streak which makes Sturridge so brilliant – but the team comes first – and that goal belongs to Coutinho.

With the score at 4-0, Sturridge should be running to celebrate with the team, not trying to draw attention to himself.
