Everton fine Ramori Funes Mori for horror challenge

Everton will dock Ramiro Funes Mori a week’s wages for his red card against Liverpool earlier this week, the Daily Mail reports.

The Argentine international was sent off after planting a right foot on Divock Origi’s ankle, and shockingly kissed the badge in apparent celebration as he departed the field. His exit confirmed Everton’s loss, with Liverpool eventually running out 4-0 winners.

The defender will now miss Everton’s FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, and his club have chosen to act following his damaging actions.

While Funes Mori will lose some money and three matches through suspension, Origi will miss the rest of the season and probably Euro 2016 as well. Where’s the justice? The Echo report that the young striker’s season is over – a crying shame considering his current form.

To put Origi’s performances into context, we can compare him to £61.5m Anthony Martial (via Sky Sports), who’s scored 13 goals in all competitions this term from 43 appearances. Our striker, who cost £10m, has bagged 11 from 32 games, and the majority of his appearances were from the bench.

Martial’s received huge praise from United supporters and the media in general, and he’s definitely a very talented forward, but we know who we’d rather have leading our line…

Get well soon Divock Origi. We reckon he’ll take next season by the horns.
