Great news on Emre Can: Liverpool midfielder set for faster recovery

It’s looking more and more likely that Emre Can will be available for Liverpool before the end of the season.

The German 22-year-old, who twisted his ankle and had to depart the field towards the end of our 4-3 Borussia Dortmund win, is making superb progress, Jurgen Klopp told the Echo.

It was previously feared that the dynamo wouldn’t be seen again until 2016/17, and would miss Euro 2016 as well – but it looks like he’s winning his fitness race.

“He’s recovering much better,” The boss confirmed.

“There might be a new timescale but I’m not telling you because there is no proof yet! But he is very good.”

It would be fantastic news for the team and the player if Can recovers to play a part.

Before his setback, he was arguably Liverpool’s most in-form player, and definitely one of the first names on the manager’s team-sheet, thanks to a series of composed, physical performances.

With captain Jordan Henderson also injured, Klopp’s had to reshuffle his pack, but it’d be superb if Can was available should we reach the Europa League Final.

We have two semi-final legs against Villarreal to navigate first, and won’t have the luxury of the German for those, with Lucas, Joe Allen and James Milner possibilities instead.
