Liverpool tipped to reignite interest in flying winger as Manchester United prepare to sell

Liverpool have been tipped to reignite our interest in Memphis Depay as Manchester United consider ditching the Netherlands winger, according to the Daily Star.

The Daily Star reports that United have lost patience with the £25m signing from PSV Eindhoven and Louis van Gaal has ordered for him to be sold in the summer.

The Daily Star also claims that clubs in the Premier League and across Europe have been approached about the possibility of signing Depay for a knockdown price.

We were heavily linked with Depay before he chose to move to Old Trafford a year ago, with the Daily Star confirming a strong interest from our transfer committee.

Although he has had an awful debut season in England – scoring only two league goals and losing his regular place in the United team – he remains an obvious talent.

And the 22-year-old is still young enough to make the most of the potential which saw him bag 22 goals to end the 2014-15 campaign as the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer.

He would be a gamble, but perhaps one worth taking if Jurgen Klopp feels that he can mould Depay into the prolific match-winner which he once promised to become.

While United are keen to get rid of him, they might be reluctant to sell the Dutchman to us in case he goes on to turn things around and make fools of them at Anfield.
