Danny Ings tribunal fee finally announced

Liverpool will pay £6.5m potentially rising to £8m for Danny Ings, leading Echo journalist James Pearce has revealed.

Burnley will receive the fee as Liverpool acquired Ings when he was under the age of 23, so despite the fact he was out of contract last summer, his parent club were owed compensation.

Ings was an important player for us earlier in the campaign under Brendan Rodgers, but devastatingly the Englishman was struck down with an ACL problem in his first training session under Jurgen Klopp – and hasn’t featured once for the German.

£6.5m, or even £8m, is still a bargain for Ings. He has the desire, work-rate and tenacity to improve tenfold, and his characteristics and hunger suit Klopp perfectly.

Next season, we’re sure Ings will play a big role in the manager’s squad, probably as one of four striker options.

Let’s hope he gets healthy soon, enjoys a good pre-season and is raring to go ahead of 2016/17.

Remember, he was in the England squad before injury cruelly struck.
