A sunny day
Bright and dry,
Momentarily interrupted
By a darkened sky.
The heavens opened
As tears flowed,
From the 96 above us
To who justice was owed.
After a courageous battle
27 years on,
An element of justice
Was finally done.
Nothing can bring
The innocent back,
But a city’s reputation
Is no longer black.
The real truth was out
That we had always known,
The disgraceful lies
Away they were blown.
To the families and friends
Of the 96 that we miss,
I hope at last
You can find some happiness.
