Tiago Ilori’s likely destination named

This season will surely be Tiago Ilori’s last as a Liverpool player, ending a three year tenure which in truth, barely even begun.

The Portuguese centre-back was shipped out on loan during his first two campaigns and didn’t make an appearance following his £7m move from Sporting Lisbon, and only made his debut this campaign under Jurgen Klopp – who admitted to not even knowing Ilori was a Liverpool player when he arrived.

He’s made three FA Cup appearances so far, but is clearly not in Jurgen Klopp’s long-term plans and is very far down a long centre-back pecking order.

According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old has already lined up a move to Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna in time for next season – which will be confirmed over the summer.

The deal depends on Deportivo staying in the top flight, which looks likely as they’re currently in 14th place. Football Insider suggest they want him on loan, but surely Liverpool will surely do all they can to get rid permanently.

Ilori’s a technically sound footballer, but his lack ph physicality means he won’t make it in the Premier League for a club which hopefully harbours title ambitions under Klopp.
