Jurgen Klopp has used a press conference to insist he will ensure his players don’t feel any pressure ahead of their Europa League final with Sevilla next week.

In truth, the pressure on the manager and the players is huge – we all want to win the trophy to mark a wonderful end to the season, a return to European glory, and a Champions League spot.

Klopp, however, wants to shield his players.

“We will need to be good in the final. There’s no chance to win it with only 60% of our quality,” he said.

“We’ve shown what we’re capable of. It’s an outstanding opportunity for us. We will be ready 100%.

“We have to create an atmosphere in the team that everyone is able to enjoy this game. If you only feel pressure then you have no chance.

“The Sevilla team is very experienced. They are a strong side, defend well, brilliant counter-attacking game. But we are strong too.

“If we play our best then it’s a real open game and open games you can win. If we don’t play our best it will be quite difficult.

“Sevilla aren’t better than us, we aren’t better than Sevilla. It’s about doing the right things in the right moments.” (via Echo).

He also took the chance to rue some of our dropped points which have ruled us out of the top four hunt, claiming it was mainly down to injuries:

“When see how close the table is, you think about dropped points and where we would be with three or four more points.

“If you cannot be one of the best four teams, you still have to develop and that’s what we did. We will go to the final and see where it ends.

“We have to use each experience from this year for next year. It’s a good atmosphere around Liverpool FC. That makes me optimistic.”
