Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is adamant he’ll stay at the club, despite persistent rumours that Jurgen Klopp will move him on this summer having only arrived from Aston Villa a year ago.

West Ham (reported in the Express), are interested in our £32.5m forward, whose debut Liverpool season has not gone to plan.

The striker’s notched ten goals in all competitions, but is actually behind Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino in Klopp’s forward pecking order.

However, the 25-year-old has vowed to stay at Anfield next season and prove himself, despite the fact he’s not earned himself a regular spot in the first-team.

“When I signed I didn’t sign for one year – I want to stay here next year,” Benteke told the Echo.

“I think I have the quality and the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses – I’ve no doubt (Klopp can make me better).

“I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end. Everything can change so I keep focused and keep going for the team and myself.”

The attacker’s quotes are admirable, and in stark contrast to the unsatisfied comments he issued at the end of March, via Sky Sports.

Back then, the Belgian claimed he wouldn’t have signed for us if he knew he’d be a sub, but due to Klopp’s rotation, Benteke has received more minutes recently

The 25-year-old played the full 90 against Watford, and came on to score the leveller against Chelsea midweek.

As a result, he’s likely to start against West Brom at the Hawthorns, enabling Daniel Sturridge a rest ahead of the Europa League Final in four days’ time.
