Sergi Canos has described his Liverpool debut on Sunday as ‘the best 10 minutes of his life.’

The 19-year-old winger was introduced to the Premier League with a late cameo in the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, in which Jordon Ibe earned us a point with a magnificent individual effort.

Canos had only returned from a loan spell at Championship Brentford, where he scored seven goals in 38 appearances, a week prior and was surprised to be rushed into the first-team picture.

But the Spaniard was delighted to be given the opportunity to make his “dreams come true”.

“I enjoyed that a lot,” Canos told the Echo. “It was the best 10 minutes of my life.

“I was nervous first of all when I went on but after that I just felt like a member of the team. These players are unbelievable and they have welcomed me so much. I am really happy.

“I found out on Saturday I was in the squad and it was a surprise for me and my family. I’ve only been back for one week. The manager said he wanted me to press and to be aggressive and to make an impact.

“When people say dreams come true, they are right. Today one of my dreams came true.”

Jurgen Klopp rotated the squad heavily ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final, and rewarded Canos for his impressive stint with Brentford by bringing him on for Sheyi Ojo after 81 minutes.

Canos, who joined our academy from Barcelona in 2013, was training with the first team last week, and it will be interesting to see how he fares if he reports for pre-season with the senior side.
