Mario Gotze‘s international manager Joachim Löw reckons a summer transfer could provide the Bayern Munich playmaker a new lease of life.
Gotze is a very well publicised Liverpool target, and according to the Telegraph, Jurgen Klopp is very confident of completing a £20m deal for the 23-year-old with incoming Bayern manager telling the German he’s surplus to requirements.
Gotze’s been injured for most of this season and when fit, has been predominantly a substitute under Pep Guardiola.
“In general, I would say that a transfer can release new energy,” Low told the Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, reported by Sky Sports.
“A new environment, new surroundings, new motivations.
“Just look at how Toni Kroos has come on. He was a top player at Bayern already, but he has taken another leap in Madrid.
“He needs a coach who desperately wants him in his team, but that is not in any way a criticism of Bayern or of Pep Guardiola,” Low added.
Low trusts Gotze implicitly, having brought the playmaker on during the World Cup Final in 2014 to see him score the winning goal. In fact, Gotze’s arguably been a more important member of the Germany side than he has for Bayern over the past two years, and a switch will do him good.
Low’s comments about a ‘coach who desperately wants him in his team’, clearly have Jurgen Klopp – the manager who developed him so brilliantly at Borussia Dortmund – in mind.
