Liverpool have ‘thrown kitchen sink’ at Gotze deal; refuse to ‘get beat in terms of bid or package’

Liverpool are doing absolutely everything in their power to convince Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze to leave Germany and sign for us this summer.

That’s according to Melissa Reddy in Goal, who has a very decent track record of breaking Liverpool news – and has beaten the likes of Paul Joyce, Tony Barrett and James Pearce to exclusives this season.

However, the report claims there’s nerves on Merseyside as despite Liverpool’s relentless pursuit, the playmaker has given no assurances – and might be swayed by the fact we haven’t got Champions League football to offer.

“Liverpool have done absolutely everything in their power to make Gotze happen, throwing the kitchen sink at it,” a source close to negotiations reportedly said.

“If the deal doesn’t happen, it won’t be because of a lack of effort from them, but because the player decided to go elsewhere.

“They won’t get beat in terms of a bid or a package as they’re prepared to do whatever it takes to land him. He is taking a long time over giving them an answer though.”

At least we know the club are not stalling in their attempts to acquire the 23-year-old, but the fact he’s not yet given his word to Jurgen Klopp – the man who forged his career – is worrying.

Gotze would inject class, creativity and everything in between into our attack – and excite Liverpool fans enormously ahead of next season.

Hopefully, hopefully the lure of Klopp will outweigh one season outside of Europe for Gotze.
