The Daily Express‘ reliable Merseyside-based sports journalist Paul Joyce has claimed we’re looking to do a deal with Southampton for Sadio Mane.

According to Joyce, we are willing to pay up to £25 million for the frontman, but would have to move quickly with Man Utd and Spurs also lurking.

Klopp has reportedly moved onto Mane after his months-long courting of Mario Gotze appeared to have failed – though today’s comments from Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have once again called the future of the World Cup winner into question (via ESPN).

Mane bagged two against us back in March when we threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2. If the deal goes through, he would be our fifth signing from Southampton in just two seasons, with Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne, and Rickie Lambert having already made the switch.

The Senegal international has been on the south coast since an £11.4 million move from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2014. He scored 15 goals for the club last season.
