Sakho cleared to play at Euro 2016 and to start next season for Liverpool as lawyers get him off the hook

Things looked pretty bleak for Mamadou Sakho just a few days ago.

Rumour had it that he was facing a possible two-year ban for doping and that such a suspension would see him sacked by Liverpool Football Club.

Today’s reports coming from France are very different.

L’Equipe claim that Sakho – who found himself in hot water for taking a fat-burning pill – is now free to resume his footballing career, because his initial 30-day suspension is now over and he faces no further punishment from UEFA.

The French newspaper suggest that Sakho will be let off the hook as he lawyers have successfully argued that the substance the defender took was in fact not listed as banned.

Should this information prove to be accurate, Sakho will be available for a late call up by France for Euro 2016.

More importantly for us, he will be able to resume his partnership with Dejan Lovren at the start of next season.
