Leicester City to battle Liverpool for exciting England international

Premier League champions Leicester City (still sounds weird, that), will go all out this summer to sign Arsenal’s crocked midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, reports an exclusive in the Sunday Express.

Neil Fissler suggests that Claudio Ranieri’s side will battle Liverpool to the 22-year-old’s signature, having failed to develop at the required rate at the Emirates, although no price-tag is mooted.

The Ox has been at Arsenal since 2011, when he was captured from Southampton, but injuries and an inability to cement a position for himself has seen the attacker’s stock drop.

The fact he actually started for England at Euro 2016 four years ago shows how far he’s actually fallen.

Arsenal are ready to let Oxlade-Chamberlain go, and it’ll be interesting to see if we do intent to fight Leicester for his signature. Although Leicester won the title, Arsenal might be happier to sell their player to the Tigers over us, who you’d expect to be a more direct rival to the Gunners’ ambitions in 2016/17.

If Oxlade-Chamberlain got fit and stayed fit, and decided on his best position, he could maximise his enormous potential. We saw with Daniel Sturridge at Chelsea that talented Englishmen can get lost at huge Premier League clubs, and our risk with the striker certainly paid off.

For us, Oxlade-Chamberlain could provide the width Jurgen Klopp demands on the right, and also inject pace, skill and dynamism into the counter-attack.
