Several British newspapers have linked us with a move for Barcelona star Thomas Vermaelen.

The former Arsenal centre-back, who moved to Spain two years, is reportedly keen to resurrect his career after a frustrating season.

The 30-year-old has only started seven league matches since his transfer, though he has also been involved in some domestic cup games.

The Mirror, Talksport, and Goal.com have all been leading with the story.

It is thought that West Ham United are also keen on a move for the player, with the Mirror claiming Vermaelen would prefer a move to the Hammers.

Would it an astute signing? We still don’t know what will happen with Sakho, Kolo is unlikely to reproduce his form of this season again, and Skrtel appears to be on his way out.

Gomez will come back, but we still could be seriously undermanned at the back. Vermaelen would bring experience to the pitch and the dressing room, and could be a good head to have around for a couple of years.
