Origi slams teammates after Belgium’s loss to Italy at the EUROs

Divock Origi is not a happy man.

He had to settle for a place among the subs as Belgium began their campaign in France, and despite coming on for the final 15 minutes, his side slumped to a 2-0 loss to the little-fancied Italians.

He was more than happy to let his feelings be known in the aftermath of the game.

“I think we underperformed,” he said.

“In football that can happen but in a tournament you can’t have too many bad days because then you can’t go through.

“Now we have to be ready for the next game. We know it will be tough because we have a lot of respect for Ireland and we’ll have to look at how we play the game tactically.” (via Echo)

Origi missed two great chances to equalise before Pelle’s late second goal.

Next up for Belgium is a tough test against Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland. A defeat would almost certain see them heading home early.

“It’s going to be an important game for us. We have to be ready,” continued Divock.

“After the loss against Italy we’re obviously disappointed but we know that Ireland are a good team and we’ll have to be at 100% to beat them, that’s for sure.”
