Martin Skrtel has been tipped to make an Anfield exit this summer, and the Slovakian centre-back looks as though he could be on his way to Roma, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
The 31-year-old is expected to leave the club this summer, as he appears to be surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp. He was heavily linked with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce recently (via The Telegraph), but with that move yet to materialise, reports are now suggesting he could end up in Italy.
Inter Milan and Roma were the teams apparently interested in his signature, and Giulianelli seems to think Roma have won the race. The report claims he’s agreed a three year contract, although there’s no suggestion of a fee. The fact that he calls him a “former Liverpool defender” also doesn’t bode particularly well for his credibility.

Roma already have a number of top quality centre-backs at the club, with Antonio Rudiger only just joining them permanently after a season on loan. Skrtel could be viewed as back-up though, with Rudiger and Kostas Manolas surely the first choice pairing.
Giulianelli may be a well known journalist, but he doesn’t exactly have a track record for being in the know. There’s no telling whether there’s any truth in this rumour yet, so we’ll have to wait and see if anything more concrete emerges.

He does seem like he’s on his way out of the club, but at the moment he’s presumably concentrating on England and the Euro 2016 Championships.
