Euro 2016 goalscorer linked with big money Liverpool switch (Rumour)

Marek Hamsik has unsurprisingly been the standout performer for Slovakia during the Euro 2016 Championships, and his performances have apparently piqued our interest. The Napoli star is being linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, with his agent suggesting there’s a 50-50 chance he’ll be leaving the Serie A side during the transfer window, as reported by the Echo.

The 28-year-old has unquestionably been superb during the Euros, and his goal against Russia may well be a contender for goal of the tournament. His agent claims he had several phonecalls after the game enquiring about his client, and the report hints that we may have been among them.

“After the match with Russia, I had a number of phonecalls,” he said.

“I won’t be specific at the moment though, Marek has a contract with Napoli. His value was already high, and it certainly won’t have gone down.

“As for the chances of Marek Hamsik leaving… At the moment, I would say 50-50.”

However, it’s unclear exactly where the Hamsik to Anfield rumours originated, and it seems they may have come from Emanuele Giulianelli, a journalist we’ve been burned by before and are inclined not to trust.

Giulianelli claims an offer of €45m has been made for the Euro 2016 star, but we’re incredibly sceptical about the validity of his claims.

The Echo have already rubbished rumours emanating from Giulianelli suggesting that we’re in for Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic, and if he’s inventing stories about the 22-year-old former Inter Milan star, then why should we believe him any more regarding Hamsik?
