Video: Impressive clip shows Anfield redevelopment progress

Major work is currently being done on Anfield’s main stand ahead of the new season, with the capacity set to be boosted to 53,800.

Work is ongoing not only in the stadium, but outside as well. Improvements are being made to the lighting, shops, lifts, escalators, and there’s plenty of construction going on outside the stadium too.

The sped up video below shows the building work being done and the progress being made.

With a new tier being inserted to add an extra 3000 seats this work is going to take a while, and won’t be entirely ready before the start of the season. The entire project is set for completion next January, but the stadium will obviously be usable long before then.

Burnley have agreed to switch their fixtures against us in order to accommodate the building work, so our first three games of the season will now be away. Our first game in the new-look stadium will be on September 10 against Leicester, and hopefully we can christen it with a win.
